Q: My son is 3 years old and sleeps with just his mother. So I've been supplanted in our bed. What are some tips to help transition him to sleeping in his own bed? He is a stubborn little guy.

A: The best thing to do is to make small changes, taking it one step at a time.  As a first step, do his bedtime routine in his room, reading books there and having some cuddle time.  After a few days, have both your wife and your son move into his room, with him in his own bed.  Gradually your wife can start moving herself farther away at bedtime, until she is out of the room and he is falling asleep on his own.  Taking consistent small steps will help make the transition without too many tears and too much resistance.
