I'd like to introduce you to my new hero: "Angry Splash Mountain lady." Her real name is Jordan Alexander, and this mom is awesome because she's owning a photo of her scowling face that has gone viral online.
It all started when Jordan and her husband Steven, who are from New York, were visiting Disney World with their baby. She was jonesing to ride Splash Mountain. But Steven had had enough. As Jordan explains it, "It was a long day. I had bronchitis, I had a crying baby, and my husband informed me that he doesn't have it in him to ride my favorite ride."
So this mom decided to show her husband exactly how she felt about his lack of Splash Mountain enthusiasm. She mugged for one of the ride's cameras, and produced an expression that has delighted the Internet.
"I kind of practiced it the whole way, and by the time we got to the last drop I didn't know where the camera was and so I just guessed and looked over and took the picture and that was that," she explained to CBS News York.
And boy did she nail it. So much so, that after Steven posted the image online, Jordan's scowl earned her the nickname of "angry Splash Mountain lady." The masterful glower has been photoshopped countless times by now; thanks to the wonder of photo editing, this mom has visited a Bernie Sanders rally, gone skydiving, and even become the Mona Lisa.
Luckily Jordan has a sense of humor about the whole thing, and that is why I love her! "I guess I'm the new grumpy cat, grumpy mom," she joked, adding "I think it's great people are taking it and having fun with it. I think some of the photo-shops are absolutely hilarious."
I mean, she could have freaked out that a less-than-flattering photo of herself had gone viral. And hated her husband even more. And been miserable. But she isn't.
I wish I had half as good of an attitude about things that don't go my way in life. Way to turn annoyance at your husband into a joke that everyone online is in on!
