Well Done, Nickelodeon! Network Introduces its First Gay, Married Parents
Nickelodeon's animated series "The Loud House," which is centered around a boy named Lincoln who has five older sisters and five younger sisters, is set to introduce the first same-sex married couple on the network. And people are loving it.
According to Vulture.com, the couple, who is also biracial, will be voiced by Wayne Brady (love him!) and Michael McDonald. The upcoming episode, called "Overnight Success," is said not to focus specifically on that fact that the couple, referred to as Mr. McBride and Mr. McBride, is gay. P.S., they have a son named Clyde McBride, according to Time.com. And in the episode, Clyde comes to a sleepover at Lincoln's "loud house."
Okay, so what's the big deal? I mean, there are all different kinds of families in the real world. But not enough of them are portrayed on kids' shows. So it's about time the tongue-in-cheek-named McBrides came along!
The Internet is thrilled, with #LoudHouse getting lots of support on Twitter.
If you want to see the episode, tune in to Nickelodeon at 5 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, July 20.
