This "Shut Up and Go to Sleep" music video will be your new bedtime anthem.
I admit it: I have a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old who both hate to go the sleep. Always have, always will. Which means being exhausted is pretty much my baesline these days.
The struggle is real.
Just ask Pittsburgh dad Reed Verdesoto, who's awesome viral parody video "Shut Up and Go to Sleep"—set to the tune of Walk The Moon's hit single "Shut Up and Dance With Me"—has taken over the Internet and quickly become my go-to bedtime jam.
"Good morning," he begins by way of introduction. "I didn't sleep last night. Or the night before. And it's because of my kids."
The exhausted dad has a pretty good pair of pipes, plus three daughters under the age of 5. And it was the many late nights spent trying to corral them into bed that inspired such lyrics as: "No, don't you dare get up, no you don't have to pee. She said 'I want a drink,' I said, 'Shut up and go to sleep!' These kids will be the death of me. I said, ohhh, 'Shut up and go to sleep!'"
It's totally catchy, right?
The video has more than 200,000 views on YouTube and 1.6 million on Facebook, where Verdesoto wrote: "Shut up and Dance with me? No thank you, its 3:30 in the morning and you kids are supposed to be asleep! Shut Up and go to Sleep! Share with a tired parent."
Consider it done!
