My 6-year-old is still obsessed with her shadow. Just the other day, we were walking in a parking lot and she told me she was going to try to beat it. Then, she proceeded to chase it down, in attempt to win a race against the elusive other half of her. I found her innocence in this moment beyond endearing, and remember thinking, I hope she maintains her adorable childlike attitude toward life for a long time to come.
My recent experience with witnessing the pure magic of childhood made me smile with delight as I watched a video of a toddler who became fascinated with his own shadow early one morning.
A video of the cute shadow dance was posted to Twitter:
How sweet is it that the tot seems genuinely surprised that his shadow is following him? Wouldn't you love to know what he is thinking in this formative moment?
Indeed, children have such an amazing and truly beautiful way of seeing the world and its everyday wonders. Watching my daughter in the parking lot, and seeing this cutie engage with his shadow, makes me wish as an adult, I could enjoy just a tiny bit of that undiluted awe and joy.
Has your child found his shadow yet?
