In the clip, we see a little girl opening the gift of her dreams on Christmas morning: an iPhone! She's immediately overcome with excitement, jumping up and down and hollering with joy. Except mama isn't so thrilled. And dad captures it all on video.
The mother's nonplussed, make that horrified, expression says it all: this gift is not okay with her. Then her shock and horror morphs into anger. Or more accurately: rage. Uh oh. Dad's in trouble. "You bought her a cell phone?" she demands.
Meanwhile, her daughter hams it up, dancing around and screaming, "Oh my God! Mom! An iPhone!" She's bouncing all over the place like she just won a million dollars.
But soon, she admits, "It's a joke."
Mom looks a little relieved, but she's still peeved at dad, who she pretends to pummel as he continues to videotape his prank reveal.
This is definitely a funny moment, but I understand why this mother is livid at the idea of her husband buying the phone without consulting her. I feel like the decision of when a child is old enough for his or her own phone should be made by both parents. And hopefully that's what this couple will do, in real life.
When do you feel your child is old enough for a cell phone?
