While Oscar buzz is still swirling, it's the perfect time to share some of the top 2015 movie-related toys my colleagues and I recently saw at the International Toy Fair. Each year, we look at thousands of toys (and yes, that's both as fabulous and as mind-boggling as it sounds!). Toys related to movies are always popular, but this year, three upcoming movies stood out as real toy trendsetters.

Star Wars: No Jedi mind control is needed to see that this will be THE toy trend for 2015. While most of the toys from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens are still top secret, toys related to any of the Star Wars movies are going to be flying off the shelves. Two of my faves:

Play-Doh Millennium Falcon Playset from Hasbro, $19.99

Star Wars Bladebuilders Lightsabers Sets from Hasbro, $19.99, expertly wielded by our Research Chief Beth Honeyman.

Dinosaurs: Two dinosaur films are slated for 2015 release: Jurassic World and Pixar's The Good Dinosaur. Although some of the toys based on Jurassic World (likely to be rated PG-13) might be a bit too scary for young kids--not to mention me!--little ones can still get in on the trendy fun with our pick:

Dino Sand Glove from Haba, $14.99

Minions: Gru's lovable sidekicks get their own feature. My boys and I are super-psyched for this one! While we wait for the big-screen film, we can amuse ourselves with silly toys such as this one:

Minions Singing Sound Pad from Skyrocket Toys, $19.99
