This Stepmom's Viral Photo Captures How Beautiful Co-Parenting Can Be
It's no wonder this awesome glimpse of a happy blended family is racking up likes across social media.
To say that attempting to co-parent within a blended family can be challenging at times is a no-brainer. But for a family in Columbus, Georgia, it's actually a really beautiful team effort. On Saturday, Emilee Player posted a photo depicting exactly that.
Player is stepmom to 4-year-old Maelyn, who is shown in the image alongside both sets of parents. "Because of us, I will never believe co-parenting can't work!" Player captioned the post. "I KNOW through experience it CAN WORK! Choose to do what's best for your child and everything will just fall into place."
As you can see, the couples are all wearing jerseys with their respective titles—"step-mom," "daddy," "mommy," and "step dad"—as they support the little girl at her soccer game. Too cute!

So far, the post has been shared more than 83,000 times and commented on by tons of people who love and support Player's positive message. Of course, there are those who've responded with negativity.
"[We've had] people saying this is not the way things should be and that we are confusing our daughter," Player tells Parents.com. "In my eyes, what we're doing should be normal. There's so much hate in this world these days. Our kids deserve to see the love we have towards one another."
Player, along with her husband Ricky, and Maelyn's mom Clara Cazeau and her husband Alex Cazeau, have shared custody and have been co-parenting Maelyn for the last three years. So, their parenting routine truly is the norm.
"My favorite thing co-parenting with Clara is how accepting she's been of me being the 'other' mom," Player says. "We are really like best friends. You could say we do just about everything together."
