This Eager Little Girl Trying to Make Oatmeal Is Every Kid Who Takes Directions Too Literally
We can't stop watching this cute video of little Ellie trying to make oatmeal following her mom's directions.
As a mom of two, I'm the first one to admit that cooking dinner every night isn't always so easy. And following a recipe to the letter isn't always a piece of cake, either. I've mixed up tablespoons with teaspoons, baking soda with baking powder, and set off the smoke alarm more times than I care to count.
Which is why I could totally relate to the little girl named Ellie in this clip posted by America's Funniest Home Videos on YouTube last weekend called "Little Girl's Cooking Confusion."
In it, the fledgling young chef is in the process of totally botching up a recipe for oatmeal. Because she's the one responsible for measuring out the oats, and every time her mom tells her that the recipe calls for "one more cup," the dutiful daughter stops pouring out the oats, hops off her step stool, and runs over to one of the kitchen cabinets to go get...another cup. Because duh.

In the end, little Ellie has three glasses lined up on the counter, and no clue what to do with them. And we totally feel her pain as her mom and older brother giggle at her misunderstanding, because she has no idea what shes's doing wrong and she is just happily trying to follow their directions.
