This Boy's Response to a Love Note Is Proof His Parents Are Doing Something Right
Remember those "Will you go with me? Yes - No - Maybe" notes we use to pass to our crushes in school? Yeah, kids still do that! One 11-year-old girl got more than she bargained for, though, from the boy she questioned. After she passed him a note asking, "Do you like me?" with checkboxes for either a "yes" or "no" answer, what she got back was this thoughtful and mature response:
"I don't know. I don't know myself yet. Plus I'm under a lot of stress at home so, I can't tell. P.S. You don't know yourself until you're 18."
Wow. Just wow. I known grown men who aren't that eloquent. Despite the fact that he's under a lot of stress at home, it seems like this kid's parents are doing something right. If we can all teach our sons and daughters that knowing—and loving—themselves is the first step toward developing a healthy relationship with someone else, we might be able to spare them some heartbreak.
Of course, while you may know yourself better at age 18 than 11, this boy should probably adjust his expectations. I'm not sure I really know myself yet, and I'm thirty-[cough,cough]... Sorry, that last part got caught in my throat.
