Wrangling your little ones, your partner, and any other relatives for a family photo shoot is undoubtedly a big production. When you do it, you want to be sure that your photos come out looking stunning -- or at least decent enough to frame or use on a holiday card at some point. But it looks like one family got a whole different result from their recent shoot. A mom named Pam Dave Zaring took to social media on Friday, January 12 to share a collection of shots she says she received from a photographer, and the retouching is so over-the-top hilarious that the post has gone crazy viral.
"Ok. This is NOT a joke," Zaring wrote. "We paid a photographer, who claimed to be a professional, $2-250 for a family photo shoot. Please see these FOR REAL photos she delivered to us...."
The mom of two went on to explain, "She said the shadows were really bad on the beautiful, clear, sunny day and that her professor never taught her to retouch photos. Feel free to share ??? I literally have not laughed this hard in YEARS!!!!! You can't make this stuff up.....again, this is NOT a joke - final product."
Really, you just have to see these shots to believe them.
In just a matter of a few days, the post has racked up more than 377K reactions and over 385K shares. "This is comedic gold. Just think you have your Christmas card photos done for next year! Your faces are flawless!" one commenter wrote. "It looks like you guys are the first Artificial Intelligence family," another said.
Zaring later weighed in on the comments, writing, "Also putting this out there!! Please continue to keep this fun and silly, and be kind. In no way is this post meant to be vicious. It was worth the money we spent for the humor we received!!!! I hope y’all have laughed as hard as we have!!!!"
She tells Parents.com that going viral has felt like "an out of body experience! One day, I'm picking my kids up after I post a hilarious experience, the next thing I know our lives have been temporarily flipped upside down, in a fun way! We are not super into social media, and apparently, it's every adolescent's dream to go viral, so they are having a blast!"
Zaring also explained how she reacted when she first saw the photos: "I was entirely too dramatic with how hard I laughed. I danced around, literally fell forward out of my chair laughing so hard!"
As for the boys? "Cade, our oldest, was 100% pure confusion," she shares. "He thought I was playing a joke on him. He couldn't wrap his brain around the fact that it was what we've been waiting for all those months. Connor, our little guy, was actually a little frustrated at first! I think he was offended! But within seconds he was laughing hysterically."
Beyond going viral, there's "one thing that has made this worth it in a way" Zaring says she could have "never anticipated." "One woman messaged my friend who has somehow become a gateway to me -- and said she was in the hospital with her ill child, and this was the first time she'd laughed in a long time," the mom of two shares. "And I have a dear friend who just had a terribly tragic loss, and this is was got her out of bed. To say I am humbled is not sufficient."
That heartwarming upshot -- and Zaring's ability to see the silver lining in all of this is truly awesome. Cheers to this family making the best of a seriously eyebrow-raising situation!
