How many times has your child said, "Mom, my tummy hurts." And it turns out he ate too much ice cream, or maybe has a little 24-hour bug. I know my kids report various aches and pains all the time, and thankfully, the cause is relatively innocuous, and we move on with our lives.
But when a 3-year-old Upstate New York boy named Abel told his mother Jen Heggelke he had a bellyache, it was the beginning of a heartbreaking and terrifying medical odyssey. His diagnosis: Stage III neuroblastoma.
"Today, Abel is fighting for his life," his GoFundMe page heart-wrenchingly explains, going on to say that as a single mom, Jen is doing everything she can to be there for her son: "Jen needs our support so she can focus all of her beautiful attention on Abel's healing. This fight will be long and hard, and is most effective with an army of supporters. Your contribution will keep Jen at Abel's side and help ease their transition to this new normal."
Here's wishing Abel and his mama every comfort and even more support in their courageous fight. We are sending hugs and prayers your way!
