My son is obsessed with Steph Curry and his team the Golden State Warriors. Which means I am now, too. And as a former high school cheerleader, I'm not opposed to going all-out with the fan gear on game days. Ever see a 47-year-old mom-of-two plastered in temporary tattoos, face paint, and color-coordinated eye blacks? It's not exactly pretty. But my kid loves that I've become a No. 1 fan, and I've always felt pretty confident about cementing my cool Bandwagon Mom status.
Or at least I did until I saw the viral video of a woman in the stands at a Warriors game the other night who was pretty much killing it with her dance moves in what looks like an ugly Golden State-themed Christmas sweater that she may or may not have knitted herself.
Check it out:
Pretty epic, right? And guess what? This isn't even the first time she's done it. Dancing Warriors Mama—at least we think she's a mom—went viral for the first time at Oracles Arena last April when her boys beat the San Antonio Spurs, becoming the second team in NBA history to win 70 games in a single regular season. Now she's at it again, with the Internet calling her dance-like-no-one's-watching moment the blessing we all need.
This chick is my spirit animal for real. But I am definitely going to have to step up my game if I want to get jiggy with her when the Warriors comes to town to take on the Sixers in late February. Not to worry...I already found this bad boy over on the NBA store website—and I may even spring for the matching slippers.
Watch your back, Warrior Mama. Watch. Your. Back.
