It was "Glory Days" for one fourth-grade student who got a handwritten tardy note from a bonafide rock 'n' roll god!
Baby, he was born to write! The Boss himself wrote a tardy note for a fourth-grader who was too busy rocking out at his show one night to make it to school on time the next day.
The note, which was posted to Bruce Springsteen's website, read:
Dear Ms. Jackson,
Xabi has been out very late rocking and rolling. Please excuse him if he is tardy!
On the site, the New Jersey native also shared a photo of himself with the 9-year-old, as well as a picture of the lucky young man holding Springsteen's handwritten note. The explanation behind the note was also shared: "9-year-old Xabi Glovsky went to #TheRiverTourLA on March 15 and ended up staying up past his bedtime to watch the full show. Thankfully, Bruce wrote him a note to make sure his teacher understood if the 4th-grader was late to school the next day."
Xabi's dad, Scott Glovsky, posted the same photos to his Twitter and Facebook pages, with the caption: "Bruce Springsteen signed Xabi's tardy note for school tomorrow. He is as genuine and gracious as you think he is!"
I can only image how Ms. Jackson reacted upon seeing her pupil's tardy note was written by the "Badlands" singer himself. (Sorry, had to include a reference to my personal favorite Bruce song!)
Of course, this note does up the ante for the other kids in Xabi's class. The next time one of his peers sleeps in, he or she will need to reach out to maybe Billy Joel or Elton John for a hand in getting off easy!
