Mom's Relatable Rant About End-of-School-Year Half Day Goes Viral

This mom is demanding to know the point of half days for kids at the end of the school year, and we are so with her!

When Tennessee mom Susannah B. Lewis, who blogs at Whoa Susannah, took to Facebook to vent her frustration about the end-of-year half day at her kids' school, it seems she touched a nerve. Her video has been viewed 3.6 million times at time of writing, and going strong!

"What's the point?" Lewis demands about the year-end half day in the viral video. Because ultimately a half day means she still has to get up early, to get her kids out the door for a mere three hours at school, which—if we're being honest—is really more of a sugar fest.

"Once the testing is done, and the awards are done, no more fun," the mom of fifth-grader Natalie Ann and first-grader Bennett rants, adding, "There's no reason for us to get up at the butt-crack of dawn for you to go sit around for three hours and eat sugar."

"Let these teachers go home!" she continues. "They're ready to put these kids on the bus and go home!"

"I don't want to 'half' to do it!" Lewis concludes her relatable rant. In fact, as she told Today.com, she can't wait for it all to be over. "I love summer. I'm looking forward to late mornings, late nights, and no schedule or homework!"

She told Parents.com: "By the end of the year, everyone is ready to just relax. Why prolong summer vacation by three measly hours! Give us sleeping in instead!"

Well, amen to that Susannah! I too am struggling to motivate myself to get my kids up and ready for school at this point. And we have another three weeks to go here in New Jersey! If I could, I'd just report them sick until the end of June. Too bad that's not exactly ethical... Sigh.

Here's another family who agrees wholeheartedly with the notion of school being a real drag at the end of the year, and is counting down the days until June, in a hilarious song parody.
