The 5-year-old from Mississippi was able to help local law enforcement "apprehend" the Seuss character and lock him up!
A 5-year-old boy from Byram, Mississippi has become a bona fide viral sensation after placing a call to 911 to report that the Grinch was trying to steal Christmas. TyLon Pittman says he was watching videos on a cell phone that lead him to believe that the Seuss character was planning to ruin the holiday, so he decided to reach out to law enforcement. "I want y'all to come back to my house and take him to jail," he said in a video posted to Facebook by his older brother TeDera Dwayne Graves.
The adorable call was also posted to SoundCloud.
Not long after TyLon spoke with the dispatcher, an officer named Lauren Develle heard about the call and drove over to TyLon's house to reassure him that the Grinch wouldn't be stealing Christmas anytime soon. She later escorted the little boy down to the station, giving him the honor of helping lock the Grinch up, according to the local paper The Clarion Ledger. The station also made TyLon an honorary officer for the day, bringing him one step closer to his goal: to grow up to be a police officer.
"For them to go this far and have this happen, when he wants to be a police officer, it means a lot," Graves told The Clarion Ledger. "And it just shows that there are some really good people out there."
