Scandal alert! Just weeks after Kim Kardashian West was accused of improper car seat use for her son Saint, the perpetually mommy-shamed celeb has been "charged" with dressing her 4-year-old daughter North in a dress featuring a corset. But this time, the star has taken to the Internet to defend the look, and ultimately blast The Daily Mail for its recent story about the entire thing.
The beef started when little North was photographed sporting a dress that laced up the front, mimicking the effect of a corset, which is meant to cinch the waist of the wearer. After pics of the supposed-corset dress were shared on social media, predictably, people started flipping out.
"Poor girl, why don't [they] let her be a kid.." one commenter bemoaned. Others pointed out that corsets sexualize the female body and are totally inappropriate for little girls. Well, guess who agrees with them? It seems Kardashian West herself, whose recent Twitter post defends herself and her daughter.
In the video posted to Twitter, the star mama—who is currently promoting her own children's clothing line, Kids Supply—clarified that she didn't design the dress herself, and that it does not in fact feature a corset. "It's just fabric people. It's not a real corset," Kardashian West explains in the 20-second clip.
The caption also exclaimed, "I would never put my daughter in a corset!"
So calm down, folks. She isn't trying to waist-train her daughter. Just fashion her up a bit!
Until the next scandal...
