The Moschino Barbie is so fierce!
Or so declares the adorably confident little boy in Mattel's new commercial for the doll.
How cute is that little dude? He kind of looks like a mini Macklemore. And we have to admit, Moschino Barbie's black-and-gold look is kind of fierce. We just can't figure out what she's doing with that oversized bedazzled cell phone. Maybe she borrowed it from her old friend Chat Diva Barbie?
The ad, which was released by Mattel earlier this month in a collaboration with Italian clothing house Moschino, is the first-ever to feature a boy playng with Barbie, and the latest move by a company hoping to decimate stereotypes and make the toy-shopping experience a little more gender-neutral.
"This is so AMAZING!!!," wrote one commenter on the Moschnio Official YouTube page. "Put a huge smile on my face!!! SO FIERCE!!"
"This almost made me cry!" wrote another. "I used to play with my sister's Barbies and felt such shame afterward. I'm so glad we can just let kids be kids. Thank you for this! Boys like dolls too!"
Still, while the ad does feature a boy, Moschino Barbie herself is not necessarily being marketed to boys. For one thing, at $150, she doesn't come cheap. And for another, she's only being sold as a limited edition on the high-end retail site Net-a-Porter, where visitors can also purchase pieces from the matching Moschino capsule collection deisgned by Jeremy Scott.
Don't bother trying to score one now, however. Moschino Barbie sold out in less than an hour. You can still find her over on eBay, however, where's she's currently listed in the $400 to $800 price range. Or you can simply shell out $350 for this cotton jersey T-shirt that features her likeness.
