It's no secret that stepmoms have historically gotten a bad rap. The word "stepmother" has pretty much been synonymous with "wicked" and "evil" ever since Lady Tremaine tried to prevent Cinderella from going to the ball.
It's not really that shocking, then, that supermodel Gisele Bí¼ndchen—no stranger to igniting controversy when it comes to defining her role as a step-parent—is now coming clean about the fact that she considered making a run for it back in 2007 when she first found out then-boyfriend Tom Brady had knocked up his ex.
"It was a challenging thing because here I am, you know...dating this guy...and everything is great and then this happens," Bí¼ndchen told CBS This Morning. "So, then I felt like I didn't know what to do. It was kind of one of those moments of like, 'Do I just run away?'"
Um, awkward! But Bí¼ndchen went on to say that, while the situation was seriously challenging for everyone involved, "I think, you know, eight years later, we have a great relationship... it all worked out in the end but it was a tough time."
Gotta love this girl's honesty!
Now, of course, Bí¼ndchen—who hit the talk show circuit this week to promote her already-sold-out $700 (!) coffee table book, aptly titled Gisele—is married to Brady and the couple has two kids of their own—Benjamin, 5, and Vivian, 2. And while rumors continue to circulate that Bí¼ndchen and Bridget Moynahan are not exactly besties, the supermodel says she has a good relationship with both Moynahan and her son John, 8, who they co-parent. And in fact, the women are often snapped chatting amicably together at John's sports events.
"My father always said the quality of your life depends on [the] quality of [your] relationships," Bí¼ndchen told CBS. "And you know, that's the most important thing you can have in your life...a support system and love."
And it looks like the Bí¼ndchen-Brady-Moynahan clan has taken that sentiment to heart. In August, Bí¼ndchen posted the above picture to Instagram with the caption: "8 years ago today a little angel was born. Happy birthday to the sweetest bigger brother in the world! We love you so much peanut. Thank you for bringing so much joy into our lives."
