Help your child's classroom win $1,000 by creating a GoFundMe campaign for a special teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Unless you've been hiding underneath your child's book report, you probably know that today is Teacher Appreciation Day, and this is Teacher Appreciation Week. And in honor of the educators who tirelessly guide our kids through the school year, day in and day out, GoFundMe is giving away $100,000 to support K-12 education.
According to GoFundMe, crowdfunding has become a huge trend in supporting education. Can you believe parents and other supporters have launched 72,000 GoFundMe campaigns for K-12 teachers that have collectively raised $33.8 million to date?

"Every student in this country deserves a quality education, and far too often the burden falls on teachers to make up for gaps in funding," explained Rob Solomon, CEO of GoFundMe, in a press release. For instance, 91 percent of teachers pay for some of their own school supplies out-of-pocket, which is exactly why GoFundMe wants to help.
Here's how the "We Love Teachers" contest works: 100 teachers will receive prizes of $1,000 each. Just imagine the awesome ways they can pay that money forward into the classroom. GoFundMe has also partnered with supply company Yoobi to provide all winning teachers with exclusive discounts on school supplies.
So do you know a teacher who hits it out of the park, but could use more support? You can enter him or her into the contest here as your way of saying thanks for all they do. You'll have until May 18 to enter your fav teacher. All you have to do is create a campaign on GoFundMe to support them and their classroom, and raise $500 to be eligible. Use the hashtag #WeLoveTeachers to promote the campaign on social media and attract more support.
