Could This New Car Service for Kids Change Your Life?

Do you feel like your car is where you spend most of your time with your kid some days? Trying to get our offspring to all their extracurricular activities and playdates often can make us feel more like chauffeurs than maternal figures. If you're lucky, you've been able to arrange a carpool to divide the schlepping among other moms, but sometimes you just can't work it out.

A new San Fransisco-based company, Shuddle, is trying to help moms on overdrive with a ride-hailing service designed specifically for kids. For a $9 monthly membership fee plus per-ride costs, parents can schedule rides for their post-booster-seat-age kids with a vetted driver who has caregiver experience—right now all of its hundreds of drivers are women. Think of it as Uber, Jr.

Does the thought of this coming to your town make you sigh with relief? Maybe you work full-time and want your child to be able to get to an after-school program or activity. Maybe you have several kids and their extracurricular schedules conflict so you couldn't possibly take everyone where they need to go unless you cloned yourself. Maybe you'd just prefer to spend your time doing something other than being a chauffeur. Whatever your situation, having an car service option like Shuddle could be a godsend.

Would you try it? Let us know!
