Busy Philipps Cops to Not Taking her Kid to the Dentist

Celebrity mom Busy Philipps is determined not to make the same dentist mistakes with her second daughter that she did with her first.

We love Busy Philipps for her amazing transparency—whether it's copping to using Facetune filters on social media to make her skin look flawless, dumping out the contents of her handbag to reveal that what's inside in "90 percent" trash, or confessing that she accidentally put dish soap instead of detergent in her dishwasher—the mom to daughters Birdie, 7, and Cricket, 2, always keeps it real.

So we were only sort of surprised when the Cougar Town actress took to Instagram earlier this week to share a pic of Cricket getting her teeth cleaned, and then admitted in the caption that she was a little behind the eight ball when it came to her oldest daughter's annual dental exams.

"Ok. Full disclosure," she wrote. "When Birdie was little, I didn't know to take her to the dentist until a mom at the park was like "WHAT? She's 4 and hasn't been to the dentist yet?!'"

Score one for all the judgmental moms at the park! Of course, by the time Philipps finally got Birdie into the dentist's chair, the damage to her chompers had already been done.

"She had a bunch of cavities and it was really traumatic," she explained. "So anyway, needless to say, my SECOND daughter has been going since her first tooth showed up. Which is why she's so chill while they clean her little teeth."

For the record, kids should start going to the dentist by age 1 or within six months after their first tooth erupts. But hey, we all make mistakes, right? In fact, just yesterday I accidentally skipped my own daughter's dental visit because I thought it was scheduled for today. Now thanks to Philipps, I don't feel quite so bad about it.

Still haven't picked up the phone to reschedule it, though.
