American Girl Is Nixing Sewn-On Underwear After Parent Backlash
After some parents got their panties in a twist over the change, American Girl has announced it will revert back to dolls with removable underwear.
Get ready to start shelling out money for American Girl doll underwear again. Because after the company was taken to task earlier this year following the announcement that some of its doll designs would be sold with permanent underwear sewn onto their bodies, AG has officially reversed its decision and announced it will be returning to removable undies for all dolls.
"In recent months, many of you have shared your thoughts on how we can continue delivering the great products you've come to expect from us," American Girl wrote in a statement posted to its Facebook page. "We've heard you. We will be reverting to the separate underwear design for all of our 18-inch dolls. Starting today, any dolls that are currently in production or any new dolls being developed will now come with removable underwear."
Pretty cool to see such a large company actually listen and respond to its customer base! Of course, there are dolls with permanent underwear already on the market, and those will remain as-is until all the inventory is sold.

However, if you currently own an American Girl doll with the permanent underwear and are disappointed with the design, the company plans to do a one-time, free body exchange on the doll to create one with separate underwear, which will then be returned to the customer free of charge.
