After Medical Scare, Trista Sutter Pens Heartfelt Post to Remind Us All to Stress Less, Love More
The former Bachelorette is feeling grateful after suffering a scary seizure while on a family vacation, and she's got an important message for other mamas.
Remember Trista Sutter? She was the first-ever Bachelorette to compete on the inaugural season of The Bachelor spin-off back in 2003. She met her husband Ryan on the show, and the two have now been happily married for 14 years and have two beautiful children—Max, 9, and Blakesley, 8.
Seems like the perfect fairy tale ending. But the reality star is now counting her blessings after suffering a scary seizure while vacationing with her family in Croatia. Trista shared her story on Instagram with an emotional post that featured a picture of her lying in a Croatian hospital bed.
"This was me yesterday," she wrote in the caption. "Two hours after I had a seizure....two hours after I fell on my daughter's chest & she watched, along with her brother & grandparents, in confusion & horror as her mommy stared blankly off into the distance & started turning blue."
So frightening! And while Trista has not yet revealed the reason for the seizure, the medical emergency was enough to have her start questioning her own mortality.
"I have an expiration date," she explained in her post. "I've always envisioned that date being sometime after my kids have graduated college, met the loves of their lives and created families of their own, but I was reminded yesterday that it could come anytime, in any country, whether I'm surrounded by strangers or people I love, or neither, or both. I've never been perfect and I never will be, but from here on out, I vow to try my best to live this life to the fullest. To stress less. To love more. To listen. Be kind. Spread joy. To be a better version of myself as a wife, mother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, neighbor, daughter, and friend."
An amazing sentiment. And yesterday, it seemed like the determined mom-of-two was already living up to her word. She was up and out of the hospital and back on Instagram, where she posted a sweet sightseeing shot with Ryan and the kids.
"They make everything better," she captioned the image, along with the following hashtags: #family #lovethesehumans #grateful #lifeisshort #lifeissweet #lifeiswhatyoumakeit
What a beautiful, happy photo! Life truly is a gift, and we are so relieved to see this brave mama smiling big and enjoying her family!
