When my daughter was little, she came home from day camp one afternoon singing the old Village People song "YMCA." Only she sang it this way: "Y... M... C... K." We laugh about that story now. But at the time, no matter how many times I tried to tell her otherwise, my headstrong toddler remained convinced that she was right.
The proper sequence is not one, two, three, four, five like her old man keeps explaining. It's one, two, three, five, according to the pint-size expert, who clearly has something against the number four.
There are just so many things we love about this video, from Aaliyah's cute high-pitched voice and tiny bright-pink Crocs, to her dad's refusal to give up and her mom giggling in the background while filming the entire exchange. But the best part of the whole thing comes near the end when Aaliyah drags her mom into the argument after several minutes of unsuccessful back-and-forth with her dad.
"It's one, two, three, five, Mommy?" Aaliyah asks hopefully.
"It's one, two, three, four," her mom responds.
"No, Mommy, it's one, two, three, five," Aaliyah fires back.
"Alright, then count to four," Mom challenges.
We don't want to ruin the ending, so watch and see how it all turns our after Mama swoops in to save the day.
