Why does my child always elevate and cross her legs when sitting or laying down?

Q: My child always lays down and elevates and crosses her legs, when she sits there are times when she leans to the side and crosses her legs, like she can't sit straight. She has recently started hanging from things and elevating her legs. Shes gonna have killer upper body strength and abs, but should I be worried that there is something more to this? She is 2 1/2 but has been doing the leg thing since about 6 months. No constipation issues. Never complains of pain either.

A: Elevating and crossing her legs could be totally normal. As long as her back is straight when she is standing up and her legs are not swelling at any time she is likely ok. Constipation is a good thought and having your doctor look at her is a good idea. If she does not walk and run well definately discuss these concerns with your doctor. Encourage her to sit and stand straight up and play games with her on the floor or sitting up at a table.
