These 14 family friendly movies and shows finish with countdowns to trick your kids into the idea that it's midnight hours before it really is. Starting on December 26, watch anything from this list and your little ones will be fast asleep by the time the clock actually strikes midnight.

Staying home on New Year's Eve has become a popular choice for young families in recent years. Getting dressed up, stepping out into the cold, and landing stuck in holiday traffic are things we'd rather avoid this year too. Pajamas, popcorn, and a movie sounds more appealing to us. But how do kids fit into this celebration?

Midnight is pretty late for young kiddos to stay awake just to blow some horns and shout "Happy New Year!" Besides, sometimes mom and dad would rather have a kid-free, calm setting to watch the ball drop and ring in the new year alone. This year, we plan to create new holiday memories with the little ones while making sure they're rested up for the first of the year with a little help from Netflix.

On December 26, the streaming site is releasing 14 family friendly series and movies that end with a countdown, so midnight can happen at any time you choose. As long as it's dark outside and the enthusiasm is high, your kids won't know the difference between 9 p.m. and midnight. Celebrate the new year early and have the kiddos happily tucked in hours before the clock actually strikes midnight. Genius.

Gather your noisemakers, confetti, and champagne—or sparkling grape juice for the kids—and search "countdowns" on Netflix. Your New Year's Eve party begins the moment you push play on one of these fun flicks—no matter what time the clock reads.
