Ever since the folks at Oreo started experimenting with unique flavors, we’ve seen many delicious ideas and a few questionable cookies (remember Buttered Popcorn?). But there's one new flavor on the horizon that we really can't wait to try—luckily, we won't be waiting much longer. After a summer full of new cookie flavors, Oreo is setting their sights on autumn and even winter with their latest releases—but they're also throwing a mystery in the mix. We'll clue you in on when they'll hit store shelves and recap some of the new flavors you can add to your must-try list until the newest ones arrive.

Mystery Oreos

Grab a magnifying glass and get your taste buds ready for this newest Oreo flavor—we can’t tell you what it is because it’s a complete mystery. Hitting shelves nationwide on September 16, Mystery Oreos are challenging Oreo enthusiasts everywhere to figure out their flavor. According to Oreo, while this cookie appears to be classic chocolate cookies and white crème, the flavor could be anything from a combination of two current Oreos to a whole new flavor.

The best detectives have a chance to win big using their investigative skills. Each correct guess submitted to mysteryoreo.com will be entered into a sweepstake to win the grand prize of $50,000. The taste-test competition runs through November 10, so you’ve got plenty of time to mull over the Mystery Oreo’s flavor. Oreo will also be releasing clues on the site and their Facebook page each Monday to guide your investigation in the right direction. Sounds like we’ll need to pick up all the Oreo flavors we can find to compare.

Maple Crème Oreos

To help us transition from summer to fall, the Maple Crème Oreo arrived late August. It has two golden Oreo cookies and maple-flavored crème inside. Sandwiching one of our favorite fall flavors between two cookies, genius! Since this is a limited-edition flavor, we're expecting it to stick around about as long as the changing leaves—which means once you start seeing packages hit shelves at the end of August, you'd best snag 'em while you can.

Peppermint Bark Oreos

Though Maple Crème Oreos just hit shelves, we already have our eyes on the next limited-edition Oreo flavor. Peppermint Bark Oreos, which were first introduced as a new flavor last year, are coming back to spread holiday cheer. Oreo isn't completely skipping from summer to winter—the Peppermint Bark Oreos are set to arrive at the end of October, so we'll have a few months to enjoy Maple Crème before the next frosty flavor arrives. While we wait for Peppermint Bark Oreos to arrive, there are a few flavors introduced over the summer that are still hanging around on shelves to try.

Oreo Thins Latte

In June, Oreo added a new flavor to their permanent cookie collection. Latte-flavored Oreo Thins feature the same chocolate cookie exterior with latte crème inside. Unlike most of their flavor collections, this one will be around indefinitely, so it's gotta be good.

Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip Oreos

Fans of mint chocolate chip ice cream will be happy to see it in Oreo form. Debuting in mid-July, this new flavor has two layers of crème—mint and chocolate with chocolate chips. Crumble the cookie and sprinkle it on a scoop of mint chip ice cream for a cool summer treat.

There's been no shortage of new Oreos to snack on this summer, and with the introduction of Mystery, Maple Créme, and Peppermint Bark Oreos, the deliciousness is continuing into the fall and winter. A new Oreo flavor is never too far away, so we're sure even more delectable cookies will pop up soon. For now, keep an eye out for these limited edition treats, and we'll let you know as soon as we hear which cookie is coming next.
