Kayla Itsines Is Pregnant and Her Announcement Video Will Give You All the Feels
Fitness guru Kayla Itsines needs no introduction. The Aussie trainer and founder of Bikini Body Guides and the SWEAT app is practically fitness royalty. Right at the heels of announcing that she's added two new workout programs to her app, the 27-year-old just took to Instagram to reveal that she's 20 weeks pregnant with her first baby with fiancé Tobi Pearce.
"Tobi and I do not even have words to describe how happy and excited we are to bring you this news," she wrote on Instagram alongside an adorable announcement video. "If you don't know already, I come from a big Greek family. FAMILY is always what comes first in my life. To be able to start my own family with the person I love most in this world is just an absolute dream come true." Itsines continued by sharing what an amazing partner her fiancé has been over the past couple of months. "Tobi Pearce has been SO supportive, SO EXCITED and so loving," she wrote. "He comes home every day, hugs and kisses my stomach. He lays on my legs and asks the baby how its day was. He is at every scan and every appointment. I couldn't ask for a better partner." Fans all around the world are thrilled and have been flooding Itsines' Instagram with supportive comments. They've also been wondering what she's been doing to keep up with her workouts these past 20 weeks.
It's not like Itsines to keep her fans waiting, so she took to Instagram today to reveal that she's still doing BBG. "I’m still doing “BBG” just modified," she wrote alongside the video. Basically, her workouts follow her programs format: "I’m still doing 4 exercises repeated over 7 minutes for 4 rounds," she explained, adding that she's been taking extra breaks and doing less high-intensity workouts. As for the actual moves, Itsines is seen doing a set of glute kick-backs with a resistance band, dumbbell squats, lunges and finally, gate openers on all fours. You can watch her walk you through the steps in her Instagram video below.
While Itsines sure makes the workout look easy, she's still listening to her body and doing what works for her. "I'm so tired," she responded to a fan asking about her energy levels. "It's an effort, I can tell you that much. I just take it slow."
Another fan asked whether these workouts were safe for expecting moms, who perhaps weren't as active as Itsines before pregnancy. "Absolutely," Itsines responded. "I would start by doing weights though. Just body weight and slowly. There's nothing wroth with working out, you just have to listen to her body." It's safe to say we're all looking forward to the fitness diva sharing more pregnancy workouts and hopefully following in the footsteps of fellow Aussie fitness influencer Emily Skye and Katrina Scott from Tone It Up by sharing some real-talk about her journey.
For now, she's just focusing on celebrating, as she should be. "Let's celebrate this amazing moment together as we are adding one new BBG member in May next year," she shared.
