On Wednesday, months after the first whispers that Disney was working on a follow up to its 1993 cult classic Hocus PocusVariety reported that the highly anticipated sequel has secured a director.

Sources confirmed to the site that Adam Shankman of So You Think You Can Dance fame, whose director credits include HairsprayA Walk to Remember, and The Wedding Planner, will helm Hocus Pocus 2 at Disney Plus.

Shankman also made the announcement on Instagram. "Thanks with all of my heart dear @disney. Looks like I'll be working on a looooooottttt of magic for a while," he wrote.

Sadly, Variety reports that the original Hocus Pocus cast members (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) are not attached to the sequel, but Disney is “hopeful that they will become involved in some capacity.”

Shankman is currently in pre-production on Disney’s Enchanted sequel. It's unclear which film will be in the works first.

We can’t wait to see the Sanderson sisters again!
