The premium ice cream brand will be giving away free cones on Tuesday, May 8. They're also celebrating the 10th year of their efforts to save honey bees.
With summer right around the corner and much of the country (finally!) enjoying blissfully warm temperatures, it would be perfectly natural to start craving ice cream. Häagen-Dazs is fully aware of this, and thus, it's fitting that they're hosting their annual Free Cone Day on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. From 4 to 8 p.m. at all Häagen-Dazs shops in the U.S., you can swing by with your L.O. for one free scoop of ice cream or sorbet in a cup, sugar cone, or cake cone.
This is also a special year for the ice cream company, because it's their 10th anniversary of Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees. Back in 2008, they teamed up with leading research facilities to donate more than $1,000,000 to honey bee research, and they continue to contribute to support the cause and spread awareness about the alarming loss of honey bee colonies nationwide, due to factors such as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), which is likely occurring due to viruses, mites, chemical exposure, and poor nutrition. Of course, if bees become extinct, so too will many delicious foods we eat all the time, like pears, raspberries, and strawberries.
Part of that effort is encouraging patrons to donate to the Xerces Society to help reach a goal of planting 1 million acres of habitat for bees. Häagen-Dazs is also encouraging customers to document Free Cone Day and spread the word about supporting the bees with the hashtag #hdfreeconeday. Select posts will be featured on the brand’s Instagram.
Getting your ice cream fix and supporting a great cause? Definitely sounds like a win-win.
