We Think Yoplait Deserves a Participation Badge for Their Girl Scout Cookie-Inspired Yogurt

Although Yoplait did a great job imitating the flavors of our beloved Girl Scout cookies, we think we will stick to the real thing.

Girl Scout cookie season is a coveted American tradition that never fails to leave our sweet tooths satisfied. When we found out Yoplait introduced a Girl Scout cookie-inspired yogurt line that could save us some calories, we had to try them out for ourselves. The flavors include Yoplait Whips! Girl Scouts Thin Mints, Yoplait Whips! Girl Scouts Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Yoplait Original Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut—all of which do not contain high fructose corn syrup, are made with live and active cultures, and are gluten-free. Check out our reviews of each flavor to decide if these semi-guilt free treats hit the spot, or flop in comparison to the real thing.

Yoplait Whips! Girl Scouts Thin Mints

Thin Mints Girl Scout cookies are a crowd favorite for the organization—leaving Yoplait with some big shoes to fill. As advertised, Yoplait decided that the Thin Mints flavor is best suited as a Whips! yogurt, giving it a mousse-like texture. Before digging in I suggest giving the yogurt a thorough stir for an extra creamy effect. At first bite, I was taken back by the strong tangy flavor reminding me this is a yogurt, not a desert. After accepting the fact that all these yogurts aren't going to be as good as the cookie, I was able to comprehend the mint chocolate flavor to follow. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the Thin Mints distinguished taste but didn't find it worked in the form of a yogurt.

Yoplait Whips! Girl Scouts Peanut Butter Chocolate

Yoplait's Peanut Butter Chocolate Whips! is a play on the classic Tagalongs Girl Scout cookie many of us know and love. As I previously advised, give this yogurt a proper stir before indulging while being aware that the first taste will be tangy (sad, but a fact we must accept). Although Tagalongs is not the most popular Girl Scouts cookie, this was my favorite Yoplait's flavor by far. The tangy-ness is not as overpowering, and the subtle hues of creamy chocolate and light peanut butter remind me of a delicious pudding. Although it is both naturally and artificially flavored, at 160 calories, I would come back for seconds.

Yoplait Original Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut

Lastly, we have the only non-Whips! yogurt out of the trio. The Samoas-inspired flavor reigns true to its toasted coconut identity with coconut flakes in the yogurt for added texture. Like the Thin Mints flavor, I didn't find that this really worked as a yogurt. I respect that fact that Yoplait's recipe stays true to the authentic Samoas experience, but at first bite, the mix of tang and overwhelmingly sweet caramel made the recipe too complicated. I will give them credit for imitating the highly popular cookie to the best of their abilities, but I couldn't get myself to eat more than half of the 4 oz cup.

The new Girl Scout cookie line is a permanent, year-round addition to Yoplait’s portfolio, you can try the three new yogurts for yourself as they are available at retailers nationwide. Any cookie-obsessed foodie should try their hand at these over-the-top flavors—considering you now have an excuse to choose sweets for breakfast.
