Texas-Style Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 beef brisket, about 3 pounds
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 14 1/2 ounce can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 14 1/2 ounce can reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 8 hamburger rolls
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • Sour cream and shredded cheese (optional)

Make It

1. Coat slow cooker bowl with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Season brisket with paprika, salt and pepper. Place in slow cooker. Scatter onion and garlic over brisket. Combine tomatoes, broth, vinegar, green pepper and chili powder. Pour over brisket.

3. Cover and cook on High for 6 hours or LOW for 9 hours.

4. Remove meat from slow cooker and cool slightly. Slice or shred and stir into sauce.

5. Remove brisket with a slotted spoon and serve on rolls, with pickles and coleslaw, if desired.
