Grape Galettes

Ingredients

Crust:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons butter, cut in pieces
  • 1/3 cup ice water
Filling:
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
  • 2 cups halved seedless red grapes
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar

Make It

Crust:

1. Whirl flour, sugar, salt in processor until mixed. Add butter; pulse until texture of coarse meal. Add water, tablespoon at a time, and pulse until dough begins to come together. Place on plastic wrap; shape into rectangle; wrap; chill 30 minutes.

Filling:

2. Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, cinnamon, yolk in bowl.

3. Heat oven to 400 degrees F.

4. Cut dough into 6 equal pieces. On floured surface, roll each piece into 4-1/2- to 5-inch circle. Transfer to 2 large baking sheets.

5. Spread scant tablespoon cream cheese mixture in 2-inch circle in center of each dough circle. Sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon nuts. Top with generous 1/3 cup grapes. Fold pastry up over edges.

6. Bake in 400 degrees F oven 12 to 15 minutes, until browned, center bubbly. Cool 10 minutes. Dust with sugar.
