Smoky Pulled Chicken Sandwiches

  • 4 - 5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Hamburger buns or soft rolls, for serving

Make It

1. Use a 6-quart slow cooker. Place the chicken breast halves in the insert, and add the brown sugar, liquid smoke, barbecue sauce, and water. Stir well to distribute the ingredients. Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours or on High for about 6 hours. Uncover and shred the chicken completely with two forks. Stir well and cook uncovered for an additional 20 to 30 minutes on High to release condensation and thicken the sauce. Serve on soft rolls with your favorite toppings, if desired.
