  • Black olives, cut into 24 eyes, using a straw
  • Red bell pepper, cut into 12 1-inch pieces
  • Pepperoni slices, cut into triangles
  • 12 12-inch bamboo skewers
  • Canola oil or cooking spray
  • 1 tube refrigerated breadstick dough
  • Egg whites
  • Poppy seeds, optional

Make It

1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Coat bamboo skewers with canola oil or cooking spray. Unroll refrigerator breadstick dough and cut it along the premarked lines. Roll each portion into a 10-inch-long rope, then wind it around a skewer, leaving 1/4 inch between each turn. Snip a mouth in one end, then slide in a pepper tongue. Press on olive eyes. Brush the dough with egg white, then add pepperoni triangles or poppy seeds. Bake the snakes until golden brown, about 18 minutes. Let them cool before removing the skewers.
