Spareribs With Mustard Barbeque Sauce

These saucy pork spareribs are the product of a microwave recipe. The tangy red barbecue sauce glazes the ribs beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire-style marinade for chicken
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon liquid hot-pepper sauce
  • 1 small rack pork ribs (about 3 pounds), cut into individual ribs

Make It

1. Whisk ketchup, mustard, vinegar, water, sugar, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper sauce in large microwave-safe glass measuring cup. Cover with microwave-safe plastic wrap, venting slightly at one corner. Microwave on high power for 10 minutes. Set sauce aside.

2. Place ribs in microwave-safe 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Cover with microwave-safe plastic wrap, venting slightly at one corner. Microwave on high power 10 minutes.

3. Rotate dish. Microwave on half power 15 minutes. Rotate dish. Microwave on half power 15 minutes.

4. Drain liquid from dish. Spread sauce over ribs; recover, venting slightly. Microwave on high 10 minutes. Let sit, covered, 10 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

Conventional Cooking Method:

5. Roast ribs in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish in 350 degree F oven 1 hour, until tender. Mix ketchup, mustard, vinegar, water, sugar, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper sauce in saucepan. Heat, stirring, over medium 15 minutes, until thickened. When ribs are cooked, remove from oven. Drain fat. Heat broiler. Brush ribs with sauce. Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat until glazed, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
