Makes: 2 cups. Prep: 10 minutes. Cook: 3 to 5 minutes.
1. Slice strawberries in 1/4-inch slices and place in mixing bowl.
2. In a saucepan combine sugar, orange juice and orange zest; bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir with wooden spoon to dissolve sugar.
3. Once syrup is at a rolling boil, remove from heat and pour over sliced strawberries. Let sit while cooking waffles. Serve over waffles.Tip:
4. If you like, substitute some of the strawberries with other berries. And watch out for boiling syrup; it is very sticky and can really burn if you get it on your skin.
