Measure and Stir:
  • Help your child crack the eggs into a large bowl; use pasteurized eggs such as Davidson's ( or wash your child's hands afterwards. Remove any shells she got in the bowl and have her add the milk and salt. Give her a whisk and let her mix everything together.

Dunk the Bread:
  • Help your child dip both sides of the bread into the egg mixture. Hold it in the mixture a few seconds to let it soak in. Let any excess drip off and ask her to place the bread on a nearby tray. If you didn't use pasteurized eggs, wash her hands again.

Decorate with Blueberries:
  • Ask your child to push blueberries into the bread (wash hands again when done). Meanwhile, heat a large nonstick skillet on medium. Add half of the butter. Cook a few finished slices until bottoms are golden, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip; cook other side 3 to 5 minutes more. Repeat with remaining slices. Serve with syrup. Makes 8 slices.
