February Cupcake
Yield: 16 cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 ounces) plus 1 cup vanilla frosting
  • 16 mini cupcakes
  • 16 cupcakes
  • Red icing colors
  • Blue icing color
  • Blue colored sugar
  • Pink colored sugar
  • Heart-shaped sprinkles
  • Red, yellow and chocolate decorating icing
  • Heart-shaped Red Hots
  • Yellow gumdrops

Make It

1. Divide frosting into thirds. Use icing color to tint one very pale pink, one bright pink, and one light blue.

2. Frost mini cupcakes pale pink. Frost 8 larger cupcakes blue; roll edges in blue sugar. Top with white sprinkles. Frost remaining larger cupcakes bright pink; roll edges in pink sugar. Top with Red Hots.

3. Spoon 1 tablespoon pale-pink frosting into a resealable plastic bag. Snip corner from bag; pipe noses onto mini cupcakes. Pipe "dad" and "mom" faces and hair with decorating icings. Place mini cupcakes on their sides on top of larger cupcakes. Flatten gumdrops, and cut out tie shapes. Attach to the "dad" cupcakes. Top each tie with a pink heart-shaped sprinkle. Add a Red Hot to hair on each "mom" cupcake.
