Tri-Corner Kisses

These triangle cookies are easy to shape, and with a chocolate candy in every one, they satisfy any sweet tooth.

Tri-Corner Kisses
Yield: 3 dozen Prep 20 mins Chill 4 hrs Bake 350°F 15 mins


  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon milk
  • 36 chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Make It

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray baking sheet.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt in bowl. Beat shortening, butter, 3/4 cup sugar in clean bowl. Add egg, yolk, vanilla; beat until smooth. Stir in flour mixture in 2 batches. Cover; refrigerate 4 hours.

3. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 inch thick with floured rolling pin. Cut into rounds, using 2-inch cookie cutter. Brush with egg wash. Place kiss in center of each. Lift three sides halfway up sides of kiss to form triangle. Place on prepared sheets; brush with wash. Sprinkle with a little sugar. Reroll scraps for more cookies.

4. Bake in 350 degree F oven 15 minutes or until very light golden. Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool. Makes about 3 dozen.
