Ginger Spice Drops

Makes: about 3 1/2 dozen cookies

Ginger Spice Drops
Yield: 3-1/2 dozen cookies Prep 10 mins Cool Several hours or overnight Bake 10 mins to 12 mins


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 recipe Vanilla Glaze
  • Red food coloring
  • Green food coloring

Make It

1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl; set aside. Beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in clean bowl until blended. Stir in flour mixture. Gather into ball. Wrap and refrigerate several hours or overnight.

2. Drop by rounded teaspoonsfuls, 2 inches apart, onto prepared baking sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned around edges.

3. Prepare Vanilla Glaze. Tint one quarter of glaze with red food coloring, one quarter with green. Spread cookies with white glaze. Drizzle with colored glaze.

Vanilla Glaze


  • 1 - 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or lemon juice

Make It

1. In small bowl, gradually stir milk into confectioners sugar until smooth and good glazing consistency. Stir in vanilla or lemon juice.
