Anise Pine-Nut Drops
Yield: about 2 dozen cookies


  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon anise flavoring
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts

Make It

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt on a piece of waxed paper.

3. Beat together butter, margarine and sugar in a bowl until creamy. Beat in egg and anise flavoring until well blended. Stir in the flour mixture. Shape dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until well-chilled.

4. For each cookie, roll 1 rounded teaspoon dough in pine nuts. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
