1. Lay out eight foil cupcake liners. Place chocolate morsels and shortening in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium 2 minutes; stir until smooth.
2. Spoon 1 tablespoon chocolate into a liner. With the back of a small spoon, coat bottom and sides with chocolate to form an even layer about 1/8 inch thick. Repeat with remaining chocolate.
3. Refrigerate 15 minutes, or until firm. Gently peel off foil liners and discard. Refrigerate chocolate cups until ready to fill, or wrap individually in plastic and freeze.
