Smothered Chicken

Chicken, mushrooms, and onions are smothered in a creamy white sauce flavored with garlic and lemon juice. This casserole recipe is sure to be a hit with your family.

Smothered Chicken

  • 1 rotisserie chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 package (8 ounces) sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condesed cream of mushroom and garlic soup
  • 1 can or jar (10 ounces) white or bechamel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic

Make It

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Place chicken pieces, skin side up (or remove skin, if desired), in a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Cover chicken with sliced mushrooms and sliced onion; set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, stir together cream of mushroom and garlic soup, white sauce, lemon juice and garlic. Pour over chicken and vegetables in dish and cover with foil. Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.
