Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup wheat germ
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Cherry Tangerine
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 cup orange or tangerine juice
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons tangerine or orange zest
  • 1 1/4 cups fresh or thawed frozen pitted cherries, quartered

Master Whole Wheat Recipe

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees . Line a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with nonstick foil. Set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, wheat germ, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, whisk eggs and oil. Add other ingredients as directed below.

2. Add 1/4 tsp ground cardamom to dry ingredients, if desired. Add 1/2 cup orange or tangerine juice, 1/2 cup oil, 1/3 cup honey, 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar and 2 tsp tangerine or orange zest to wet ingredients. Once blended, fold in 1 1/4 cups fresh or thawed frozen pitted cherries, quartered. Transfer to prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.
