  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick foil. Set aside.

  • Set 2 ounces of the chocolate aside. Chop remaining 6 ounces and place in a large microwave-safe bowl along with butter. Microwave on HIGH power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave an additional 30 seconds, then stir until smooth.

  • Stir in sugar, flour, baking soda and salt until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; stir until smooth. Chop remaining 2 ounces chocolate. Stir into batter along with walnuts. Pour into prepared pan, spreading level.

  • Bake brownie at 350°F for 40 minutes until center is firm when lightly pressed. Remove from oven; cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes. Use foil to lift brownie from pan; place directly on rack to cool completely. Dust with confectioners sugar before cutting into squares.
