Yield: about 2 dozen biscuits Prep 15 mins Bake 425°F 12 mins to 15 mins

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup milk

Make It

1. Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Grease 15 x 10-inch baking pan.

2. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Add shortening; using fingertips, rub the flour and shortening together to make little crumbs. Stir in milk with fork to make sticky dough.

3. Transfer dough to well-floured board. With floured hands, knead dough about 10 times. Pat into 9-inch circle. Using a 2-inch round cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. Place biscuits in baking pan. (Arrange with sides touching for softer sides, apart for crisper sides.)

4. Bake at 425 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes or until biscuits are nicely golden on top.
