Bolognese Over Polenta

This quick and easy ground beef recipe tastes like it cooked all day. Adding heavy cream to a jar of pasta sauce gives the flavor of a classic Italian Bolognese sauce. Serve the meat sauce over prepared polenta that takes just minutes to heat.

Bolognese Over Polenta

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 package (4 ounces) mixed sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon each salt and black pepper
  • 1 large jar (25 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 tube (24 ounces) heat-and-serve polenta
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Make It

1. In a large nonstick skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and cook 3 minutes. Stir in ground beef, basil, salt and black pepper. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2. Add marinara sauce and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes over medium heat. Stir in heavy cream and peas. Heat through. While sauce is cooking, cut polenta into 1/2-inch slices. Heat a grill pan and grill polenta until heated through. Spoon sauce over polenta slices and sprinkle each serving with Parmesan cheese.
