Barley-Beef Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup uncooked quick-cooking barley
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 small onion, quartered
  • 12 ounces lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoon bottle barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns

Make It

1. Prepare barley as per package directions, using 1/3 cup barley and 2/3 cup water.

2. Combine cooked barley and onion in food processor. Whirl until finely chopped. Add beef, barbecue sauce, salt and pepper. Using on-off pulses, mix together just until combined. Shape into 4 patties.

3. Grill or broil 5 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once. Serve on hamburger buns.
